The new Politics of Climate Change

I recommend this excellent Financial Times account(Pilita Clark, 23rd Feb)of where we are at in the struggle to save the ecosphere.

But there is something still missing:

Why is an unconditional basic income (UBI) not in the toolbox marked “The new Politics of Climate Change?

Why is it still missing? Nothing has changed since the problem was recognized 50 years ago.

Because voters hoping to get elected dare not suggest eco-footprint taxes at least not at the scale they would be needed at this far too late stage.

What might persuade them?

Combine the necessary taxes wigth a guarantee  of basic needs.

As per this weblog for the last 9 years.
